CANTERBURY BOWLING CLUB

-♦ The twenty-first annual meeting of the Canterbury Bowling Club was held last evoning. The president, Mr J. Brown, was in the chair, and there was a lar^e attendance. Tho report stated that the club was in a very good financial position, and the membership had increased by 100. The committee desired to express its regret at the death of Captain Coleman, an ex-president of the club. The green had been top-dressed. The adoption of tho report was moved by Mr J. M. Taylor, who said that the committee deserved the hearty congratulation of the members for the success of the past year. The motion was carried. The balance-sheet showed that the receipts had been £239 13s 3d, and the expenditure £192 Us 4d, leaving a credit balance of £47 Is lid. The bal-ance-sheet was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows:— President, Mr F. J. Barlow; vice-president, Captain' Meikleham ; honorary secretary, Mr H. i W. Hellyer; honorary treasurer, Mr M. S. j Brown ; committee, Messrs J. Brown, E. C. Ashby, W. Jacques, I). Neave and H. Hoffman ; honorary auditor, Mr T. A. Arrowsmith ; delegates to the Bowling Association, Messrs C. Keastand J. Payne; Ground committee; ' Messrs W. Thomson, j H. Oakley and A. D. Dobson. A circular ' was read from the New Zealand Bowling Association, giving particulars of motions to be moved at a meeting of delegates on July 18. The meeting resolved to support t proposals that a committee should be set up to revise. the Association's rules, that a standard bowl should be adopted, and that arrangemftats should be mads so that each rink engaged at the annual tourna- ! ment might meet ; & number of others. The meeting also decided to oppose a proposal that the pennant matches should be abolished. Votes of- thanks were carried to . the retiring officers and the chairman, and the meeting closed.
