A SORTIE FROM PORT ARTHUR.

WAR CORRESPONDENTS FIRED ON, (Received June 8, 8.55 a.m.) LONDON, June 7. Unofficial reports from Chifu state that the Russian fleet at Port Arthur made a sortie last, night, and heavy firing was heard for several hours. Admiral Togo, reports that he discovered and blew up 41 mines at Talienwan. Russian reservists, largely employed in industrial enterprises, are being sent to the frofit because it is suspected they are more dissatisfied with the Government than the fresh levies. Chinese soldiers fired on Mr Lewis Etzel, the " Daily Telegraph " correspondent, at Tientsin, and Mr Brindle, the "Daily Mail's " correspondent at Hhichwang, while their junk was between Shamtaitze and Erdiko. Mr Etzel was killed, but it is believed that Mr Brindle escaped. Both were investigating the movements of the bandits.
