— —^. HEW BRIGHTON. The installation of Mr C. H. Winny as Mayor of New Brighton took place dn the Borough Council offices on Wednesday night-, when the following councillors were present : — Messrs Glanville, Bellamy, Oheckley, Macfaflane and Musgr-ove. There were also present Mr George M'lntyre, exMayor, Messrs J, Ashley, J. Caygillj A. JRobb and H. A. Boddington. Mayor (regretted; that during the year they 'hAd lost the services of Councillors Brunt and Clayton, whose placesit would- be hard to fill. He had; just received -the resignation of Councillor Edwards, converter of the Works Committee, who Ihad expressed a -desupe to be . relieyed of ihis duties as A councilor. The May<w\ moved a hearty vote of thanks to Coumcillofe Edwards and Clayton for services rendered to the borough, duping their term of which'was carried una»imously! The Jftayor then »gned the declaration, a«njdnrg those pr-esent that no cine- would take a kiener interest in the progress and prosperity of New Brighton than himself. Referring to the financial -condition of t3ie borough, he eaid tbat *he balance of the loan money was nearly expended 1 , but all the work scheduled in connection with, the loan would be completed, in spite of "the fact that the woifc was more expensive in New: Brighton than in the city and suburbs. Much credit was 'due to the late Mayor (Mr George M'lntyre), who, while in- office, fcad^ really done a large share of the work in eecurine the loan.
