SATURDAY'S "STAR."
Nearly the whole of the first page of next Saturday's issue of the " Star " will be occupied by the first instalment of Richard \ Marsh's new serial, "A Duel to the Death." It is a well-written story with a strong plot; the scene is laid in Forfarshire, on the north-east coast of Scotland; but the characters are not by any means all Scotch, and the English reader is not asked to wrestle with the northern vernacular in the dialogues. The other parts, of the magazine section of the paper will contain the following in the portions set apart for tales and sketches :—" Two Russian Ministers," " A (iame for Kings,]' " The Uses of Adversity," " Thieves' Queer Superstitions," "j3Phe ' Old Lady,'" " The Land of Lebaudy," and others. There will be the usual columns for gardeners and bandsmen, and Brief Mention and Humour"; the racy column contributed by tne writer of " The Week j" and quite a Budget of reading matter of specia.l interest to ladies. Amongst the last mentioned, will be found "The Rebellion, of Mlindy Ann," "Revival of Islington," "Queen Alexandra as a Milliner," " Multi-Milliona!ires in the j Nursery and Schoolroom," etc., with, of course, tie usual" allowance of household information and paragraphs of general interest to the ladies. -
