FOOTBALL.

THE SYDENHAM CLUB

The annual general meeting of the Syden* ham Football Club" wag held in the new club-roorrt, Elizabeth Street, last evening. About one hundred members were present, and the president (Captain Meikleham) oc. cupied the chair. " The annual report stated that during the past year 59 new members had been elected, and that there were 195 names on the revised membership roll. Since the last annual meeting, the plub had taken an important Btop, by procuring social and training rooms, which in time Would become the property of the club. The trustees had executed a deed of mortgage on the property, and a sinking fund had been provided for the redemption of the^ mortgage. The funds raised up to the present time had been more than sufficient for purchasing and surveying the land, and paying other contingent expenses, without encroaching on the club's private funds. The sum already collected amounted to about £200, and there was still £50 outstanding. The balance-sheet showed receipts £398 13* 2d, expenditure £354 8s 3d, and a credit balance of* £44 4s lid. The club's assets, exclusive of the new buildings, 'were £279 14s lid, and there were no liabilities. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Mr G. J. Smith ; president, Captain Meikleham ; vice-presidents, Messrs A. J. Lawrence, E. Fox, T. M'Gallon, W. Mann, W. E. Munday, W. Atyeo, J. Baldwin, W. Hoban, G. Scott, H. G. Ell. M.H.R., A. 'Stark> H, N. Bates, J. Snell and T. H. Strahan; captain, Mr W. M. Allardyoe; secretary, Mr H. C. Harrison; treasurer, Mr J. Milne ; committee, Messrs A. E. iLove, J. Kett, W. Round, H. Andrews arid /A. M'Phaii; delegates to the Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs H. O. Harrison, W. M. AUardyce, S. Cadle and G. Scott ; delegate to the Sports Protection Association, Mr H. C. Harrison ; auditors, Messrs T. S. Mortlock and W. J. Davis. About thirty new members were elected.
