" Alfred Kelly, a-ged thirty, a resident lof Grey Street^ was knocked . down in Queen Street while attempting to cross in front of an electric car. The front wheel passed over his right amn above the elbow, crushing it. badly, and he was also badly injisred on the head. He was conveyed to the hospital. * PAHIATUA, December. 23. A girl aged nice, the daughter of a settler named. Beokett, at Kaitawa, was drowned while crossing a shallow in the Tiraumea River with ibex sister. She fell, and the current oarried iher into deep water. . ■ BLENHEIM, December 23. A youth named Harold Gill 'became entangled in the •machinery\at a- flax-mill at Blind River yesterday, and received injuries of such at sever© nature that he died in the hospital this morning. INVERCARGILL, December 23. Mr Robert Williamson, manager of the Undaunted Goldmine, Nevis, w«s killed! by a fall of earth. He was aged forty and; was unmarried.
