An American warship will tnke Mr Davis, the American Consul, back to AlexandretU, and reparation will 'be demanded for the re- | cent attack on. Mr Davis. The allegations ! that Dr Ucker was illtreated in the hospital have proved unfounded. (A Constantinople cable message of December 12 said Mr Davis, the American Consul at Alexandwtta, was accompanying an Armenian, named Attaxia, a naturalised American, to a steamer. The police insult&d and assaulted the Consul, «nd despite his and the Consular Guards' resistance, arrested and imprisoned Attaria. The authorities pretend that Mr Davis was the aggressor, using a stick. The guards tried to release the prisoner,, and smashed the gaol windows. The Consul lowered th& American flag and proceeded to Beirut. Mr j Leishmann, the American Minister at Constantinople, lodged a complaint with the Porte.)
