[Per Phess Association.] AUCKLAND, September 4. The following messages were received by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, via the Pacific cable:— NEW YORK, September 3. A dense fog prevailed this morning over the international racecourse Observers at the highlands reported at 8 o'clock that th©y were unable to sac more than a hundred feet. There is a six-mile breeze from the north-west. 9 a.m.— The fog began to lift somewha*, and the wind! from a quarter west of north still -held at about sis miles an horn-. 9.30 a..m.— The yachts left their anchorage and leaded! for the lightship under taw. The starting time (unofncial) was:—Reliamoe 1.01.10, Shamrock 1.01.14. 1.14 p.m.— Reliance in a quarter of an 'hour worked! into a. position an eighth of a mile to windward* of Shamrock, and is leading by half a mile toHvinxJwsird. 3.13 jp.m.— Reliance is leading hj One mile. f . . Reliance turned the outer mark at 3.41. p.m. At 4.9 p.m. Reliance had covered five milea «f the run home, and was leading by about a mile and five-eighths. A small split in Reliance's spinnaker will retard her. * ' Reliance i« two miles from the finish and the fog is very dense. Reliance won. Shamrock was three miles behind at the finish.
