. ♦ THIS DAY. [Pjbb tm "Stab's " Pigeon Express.] There was a moderate entry of stock a* th© Addmgton Saleyards to-day j and the usual attendance of buyers. . Fat Cattle.-h^3B head were yarded', the entry comprising a> good proportion of prime steers. The sale opened quietly, but ] gained strength, as the market proceeded, and last •week's prices were maintained. A line of 20 6teers from the North Island realised from £12 10s to £13 2s 6d, a Peninsula line <x£ 19 £13 to £17 5a arid £18 10s, and 21 ifrom. Messrs Washbourne Bros., Sehvyn, £8 15s to £14 15s. Other steers sold at from £8 to £14 10s, heifers £6 15s to £12 ,2s 6d and £13 ss, cows £6 15s to £11 10s 'and £13. .The price of beef ruled at from 35s to 38s for .prime quality, and 30s to 34s for medium and inferior. Calves. — An average entry realised from ss^to £3, according to size and quality. Fat Hoggets. — About 500 were entered, and soldi readily at prices ranging from 14® to 17s 6dj with the exception of a particularly nice line of 287 fowarded by Messrs Bealey Bros^ of Hororata, which realised 18s 3d. -^ Fat Sheep. — There was nob a large entry, and the yarding included many pens of unfinished sorts. For these the demand was not 'keen t bub all prime quaJity fully maintained recent values. . ' Store Sheep. — The entry totalled 2382. The spirited! demand which fens existed lately slackened, probably as a result of the wintry weather, and several lots were passed unsold whilsi those which changed hands did so At slightly reduced rates. The principal sales were: — Wethers — 17 at 18s lOd, 81 at 17s lOd, 66 at 17s 9d, 70 at 16s lid, 28 at 16s lid, 97 at 15s lid. Ewes— 59 at 21s 9d, 270 at 17s 7d. Hoggets— 3s at 15s 3d, 42 at 15s ld 2 35 at 13s lOd. Pigs. — There was a good entry of fat pigs and a steady demand at late rates. A prime line, of baconers from the Agricultural College at Lincoln, realised from £3 4s to £3 12s 6d, other baconers 45s to £3 10s, equal to 5d per lb; porkers, 32s to 42?, equal to s£d per lb. Stores were in. plentiful siipply, and the prices were atrifle j easier. Big stores brought fr6m 22V to 325. medium 15s to 20s, suckers and weaners 10s to 14s.
