•SUICIDE OF AN ATHLETE. United Press Association — By Elect no Telegraph— Oopyrigh t. (Reoeived August 20, 10.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 20. Mons. Victor, a one-time famous athlete, has committed suicide byjshooting himself. [Per Press Association.]. WELLINGTON, August 20. At an inquest touching the death of an asylum patient named Georee Ludlaw, the fact was disclosed that the deceased's skull was fractured. Medical evidence, however, attributed death to congestion of the lunga. The jury added a rider, suggesting that the police should make inquiries as to how the skull was fractured. T^e deceased, who was sixty -seven years of age,, had no friends. He had only /been in the Porirua Asylum a few days. INVERCA'RGILL, August 20. John Murphy, a traveller for the J. G. Ward Company, left Winton by train for Lumsden yesterday. He got but at a side station a mile and a half from Lumsden, when© his dead body was found by the side of the line. It is supposed that b,e fell in attempting to get aboard, sustaining injuries to hia head.
