The new Greek Government,, formed! by M. v Theotokis, Slaving refused to sanction the currant monopoly, riotous disturbances occurred in the provinoes i which led to the Cabinet's resignation on the .ground that tie most rigorous measures alone- could maintain order. The peasants, who were prevented from boarding the trains with a view to going to Athens to join the demonstrations against the Government^ destroyed the railway metal* in several places.
