PERSONAL.
The Minister of Mines proposes to leave Wellington for the south about the middle of the present) week on a visit to the principal mining centres of Otago, Southland and Westland.
Tha Dunedin correspondent of this paper announces the death of Mr John Don, aged seventy -four. He leaves a family of five sons and five daughters. Among the former are Dr Don, rector of the Waitaki High School, and the Rev A. Don, Chinese, missionary in Dunedin. „
Messrs Buddo, Laurenson, Taylor, Davey and Witty, M.H.R. *s, left for Dunedin by this morning's express to visit the Central Otago Railway. Mr Hardy was prevented from joining them by other public engagements.
The Hon W. Hall-Jones will arrive at Stratford to-night, and will be informally entertained at dinner by the Mayor and citizens.
