A MOTION OF SYMPATHY FROM CANTERBURY.

At tho meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour' Council on Saturday evening, the following motion was, earned :—" That this Council extends to tbe railway workers of Victoria its sincere sympathy with them in their present struggle, and earnestly hopes that they will be successful in resisting the tyrannical attempt bsing made by the Victorian Government to interfere with their rights as citizens in "combining with other wagte-earners for the purpose of mutual protection; and the Council is of opinion that if the nefarious intention of the Victorian Government is carried into effect, a severe blow will be struck at the independence of all Government servants."
