MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

A social gathering in connection with the Lyttelton No-license League wa.s held in the Wesleyan schoolroom on Thursday night. There was a large attendance, and the Heathcote and. Woolston Branches were represented. Tne president, me Rev A. H. Treadwell, occupied the chair. The annual report referred to the success of the League since its formation, and stated that the result of the local option poll showed that the majority of the electors who voted were in favour of no-license. The programme for the evening consisted of ad<kesses by Miss Roberts -and the Chairman, a song by Miss M. Clark, recitations by Mrs Pedlar, Misses Pedlar and Rhind and Mr Yates.
