The gentlemen who formed the coroner's jury at the recent inquest on a young woman who died at the Hospital, left their fees in the hands of the Hospital authorities, as contributions to the Hospital funds. At the Christchurch Magnetdo Observatory,, at 9.30 a.m. to-day, the barometer stood at 29.727. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded during the previous twenty-four hours were 72.7 and 51.6 respectively. The maximum temperature, in the sun was 137.1, amd the minimum thermometer on the grass registered 46.5. No rain fell during the preceding twentyfour hours. The gold entered for export from New Zealand during last month totalled 48,770 oz> of the value of £189,681, as oompared With 32,8600z, valued at £127,397, in January of last year — an increase of 15,910cz, of the value of £62,284. Last month's total was made up as follows: — Dunedin, 16,293 oz, £65,925; Greymouth, 12,9040z, £51,591; Auckland, 12,2620z, £42,994; Hckitika, 35610z, £14,244 ; Westport, 2985 cz, £12,020; Nelson, 7650z, £2907. The export of silver last month totalled 62,343 oz, of the value of £6^13, or 25,9870z, of the value of £1816, more than in January, 1902.
