UNHAPPY QUEEN.
PRAYED FOR DEATH.
DAYS SPENT IN TEARS.
The " Neves Wiener Tagblatt," of Vienna, publishes two letters Avritten by the late- Queen of the Belgians to her painting master, M. Francis Xavier Pe'tter. In the first tetter, dat'od' Sept. 20, 1853, a miomth! after her marriage, the Queen says: —
" I am an unhappy woman. God is my only support. My poor mother begins to perceive- what she did when she arranged my marriage. " She only sought my happiness ; now she sees that the contrary is the case. If God, would hear my prayer I should not live any longer."
In the. second letter, datedi a year later, her Majesty writes : " Nothing now remains to me but the splendid remembrance of my youth. .Separated fi'om my beloved mother and friends, I spend my remaining days in tears."
The "Tagblatt" adds: "The unhappy Queen waited fifty years before her prayer was granted. M. Petter, to whom the letters weio addressed-, has long been dead. The original letters were sent- to the. 'Tagblatt' fay members of his family resident ia Vienna."
