TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, — I among several others am unable to understand the way in which the conclusions are arrived at as regards reduction and no-license vote. You would be conferring a boon to me and a large number of electors if you would kindly explain, for instance, what would, constitute reduction.—l am, etc., INQUIRER. Christchurch, Nov. 28. (1) Reduction is carried when a majority of the votes actually polled are cast for reduction. If 1000 votes are polled, 501 would be sufficient to carry reduction. (2) No-license is carried when three-fifths of the votes are cast in its favour. If K)00 votes are polled, 600 are required to carry no-license. (3). In other cases continuance is carried. — Editor " Star.")
