*, . THEATRICAL SUICIDE. A German, waiter named Frederick Stover was remanded at & London Police Court ■on a charge of attempting to commit suicide. The evidence showed' that the defendant lived at Twickenham with a Mrs Cowley fin-'l her daughter, Ri good-looking girl, in t;i. rto learn English. The first time he fi.iv/ Miss Cowley he fell in love with lier, and although the mother told him' that her duughter would never accept him he proposed to Iwv. When she refused him he- foi-ced her to ' accept a gold ring, and 1 renewed his suit. Ho was again rejected, and was afterwards j seen bra.ivlish.ing a razor, with which he i ultimately gashed his hand. A letter was I found under his pillow in which he said he was going to "join his dead father and mother."
