THE LYm^LTON CELEBRATION.

A meeting of the Lyttelton Procession Committee was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night, Mr W. Toomey presiding; It was agreed to alter the class in the prize schedule for "best dressed hack and rider" to "best decorated hack and rider." Notifications were received from the Oddfellows', Foresters and Druids that they would take part in the procession. It was stated that the Fire Brigade would participate, and that a "Darktown Brigade " would be organised for the occasion. A large muster of Maoris from Rapaki and Port Levy will join in the procession, and a very go<*d show" of decorated trades' carts is expected. The Volunteers will head the procession after the leading band, and the following order of the others was determined upon by lot:— After the Volunteers —Children, Friendly Societies, Fire Brigades, hack's, bicycles, go-carts, tradesdisplays, draught horses, Maoris, Bailors' displays, private vehicles, lumpers. The committee decided to request the public to decorate their premises on Coronation Day. It is expected that the fireworks display, which is to be under the direction of Captain Toomey, of the Lyttelton Fire Brigade, will equal anything of the kind yet seen in the PoTt. A certain proportion/: provided by the borough, will be let; oft during the progress of the torchlight pro; cession, and at Its close, at 8 p.m., the Harbour Board's display will be made, at the end of the eastern breakwater. A Masonic service, in connection with the Coronation celebrations, will be held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Lyttelton, on the afternoon of Sunday, June 29. The Plight Rev Rishop Julius will preach in St Saviour's Church, Lyttelton, to-mor-row evening, on the subject of the Coronation. \

At a meeting of the Ashburton Coronation Comanittee last night, it was resolved to make the erection of a drinking fountain in Baring Square the first charge on the funds, subject to the approval of the Ashburton County Council.
