A MYSTERY OF THE SEA.
A SUPPOSED WRECK. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 19. It was supposed recently that the wreckage reported as found on the beach in the far north was from vhe timber-laden barque King Oscar H., but latofo. news hns pretty well established the fact that the timibar washed up was not fromi th&t craft. The " Star's " Hokianga correspondent now advises tbat the flotsam on the beach aniust have been in the water fer a considerable time, as it is barnacled, and could not dome from the King Oscar IE, that vessel being a comparatively recent departure from Kaipa*ra. There is mow, however, reason* to fear tbat the wreckage found may be fromi the barqfte Deoima, 793 tons, owned by J. Bang, of Glasgow, w_yc*h left Kuipaira on December 12 last year, with 528,500 feet of kauri flitches, 1-oadfedl by the Kauri Timber Compamy for London, and not yelk heard of, though 188 days out. She may N possibly have met with a -minio-r mishap, but the fact that she is nearly seven month-, ont points to her total loss at sea, with all hands.
