ILLUSTRATED HISTORY.
The proclamation of Peace was c^hf brated in the most enthusiastic manae* in New Zealand, .and illustrations in thut week's "Canterbury Times" show some of the many interesting scenes of the occasion at Christchurch and Wellington. Portraits; of members of the Vereejiiging Conference are also given; also of the Band of the Eighth Contingent, taken in Natal. Peaceful warfare is illustrated by a • portrait group of the Wanganui Garrison; Band, which has performed at recent contests with, signal success, and foy snapshots of physical^, drill. The great and growing industry of poultry -keeping has recognition in pictures of young ducks of several varieties at the Willowbank Poultry Farm, Studholme, whose proprietor, Mr Edwin" Reilly, is a pioneer and authority in poul-try-farming in New Zealand. The hew Old Men's Home, or " Veterans' Retreat," at Ashburton, and ths new Provincial Hotel, Chrjstchurch — a new and attractive type of hotel architecture, forming a de-. c'ided contrast to the old/ building which it replaces aye also represented. The burial of Cecil Rhodes, some prize homing pigeon* and ai number of other viefrs and portraits, contribute to a very attractive series of illustrations..
