At a special meeting, of the Richmondl School Committee held on Thursday evening Miss Kate E. Newton was appointed assistant mistress. Mrs G. T. M. .Hayhunst left for the south by the express train this morning. Mr A. C. Pringle and Mr E. G. Wright were among the passengers who went south by this morning's express train. j Mr L. W. Harrie, of Dunedin, arrived in town this morning. ' His Honor Mr Justice Denniston will leave Christchurch to-morrow morning for InvercargiU. On returning be will »go to Wellington, and Whence to Hokitika, returning to Wellington again to attend the sitting of the Court of Appeal. Mr.J. E. Bannister, of ( tlie Wanganui Collegiate School, has been selected out of twenty applicants as second master of the Napier" Boys' High School.
