At the annual meeting of the Nelson Acclimatisation Society, it -was resolved to x ask the Government to remove the protection on stoats and weasels, and other So-cieties-were requested to co-operate to pay a reward for the destruction of these animals. Fishing licenses were fixed at 12s 6d. A resolution to appoint rangers for the whole colony, by contributions from the Associations and the- Government/was rejccted> the contention being that honorary rangers, pledged to watch the interests of the sport were alone effective. The fishing season was fixed as usual, except with regard to the Maitai, which was limited^to four months. It was resolved to release eighty thousand trout fry in the. rivers, and endeavour to rear twenty thousand locally; thus resuming the fish culture.
