United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph —Copyright. (Received May 29, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 28. The weather was warm and cloudy, and the wicket fast, but the attendance was moderate. Tho overnight partnership of Warner and Mitchell was dissolved, Kelly catching Warner at tho wickets—sev^n wickets for 201. Storei followed, but quickly succumbed, Howell taking a nice catch wide out in the slips. Noble and Howell were both bowling finely, and twenty minutes play had sufficed to dispose of two wickets —eight- wickets for 207. Hearne joined Mitchell and both batsmen adopted forcing tactics, and runs came quickly. At 258 a double change of bowling was tried, Hopkins aaid Armstrong going on, but without effect, and the score rapidly mounted. Mitchell showed splendid 'defence. With eight wickets down for 280 the innings was declared closed, Mitchell being not out with 55, and Hearne not out with 35. Rain then started, and play was not resumed before lunch. (Received May 29, 11.15 a.m.) Trumper and Duff opened tho Australian second innings, and by good hitting soon reached the half century.. At 59 a change of bowling was tried, Heaxne relieving -Twrtt. Despite other changes oo separation was effected till the century was almost) in sight. Eventually Duff skied a ball from Cranfield, Trott taking the catch in ■ the slips. The partnership lasted fifty-five minutes—one )vicket for 91. Hill followed, but when the score had reached 98 rain* again commenced. The following are the scores: — M.C.C.
