SOCIETY LAUNDRY SCHEME.
« WASHING RAISED TO A FINE ART. The society laundry contemplated for London by the Countess of Essex and Mrs Hwlfa Williams is not yet established, but should the scheme eventually come to pass, the chosen situation will probably be Coombe, a very fashionable and popular neighbourhood, now that it is brought so near to London by motor car. The idea originated- with Mrs Hwfa Williams, who has been responsible for many of society's fashions, and who, if she turns her serious attention to a business plan, would no doubt achieve much success. That there te room for such an enterprise there can be no doubt, for many society women send over their daintiest lingerie to a blanchisseuse in Paris, while many men who are fastidious, about their shirt-fronts and neckties do'the same thing. All over France, but especially in Paris, washinig is brought to a- fine art. The blanchisseuse would' never dream of folding a frilled petticoat or goffered skirt, but always brings it back in triumph on the ' end of a long pole, while robes de nuit and cache-corsets arc arranged prettily with their lace frills displayed to the best advantage over pink tissue paper.
