PERSONAL.
Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, the Mayor of Christchurch, left for Waimate by the express train this morning. Mr H. G. Ell, M.H.R., was a passenger for the south by the express this morning. Sir James Hector and Professors Cook, Brown amd MacLaiirin were among the passengers by the express for the south today. Among the passengers for the south today by the express were thfc Hon C. C. BoVen and Mr W. Eraser, M.H.R. It is understood that Inspector Ellison, of Cb.ristchv.rch, will succeed Inspector Pender in charge of the Wellington Police Station when the latter retires next month. Among the passengers from Wellington by the s.s. Rotomahana this morning were Sir Robert a«d Lady Stout, Sin J. Hector, the Revs F. W. Isitt, J. S. Smalley and Paterson, and Captains Adams and Staughton. The Dunedin correspondent of this paper telegraphs that Mr Jim 'Marion, the wellknown corner man- ia Dixs G-aiety Company, was married at Sfc Paul's Pro-Cathe-dral yesterday to Miss Wilhelmina M'Kernan, fhe second daughter of a settler in the gawke'a Bay district. :
