At a patriotic demonstration, held in the : Town Hall, the Mayor presiding, resolutions moved by Mr Barton and Mr Reid»and supported respectively by the State Premier and the leader of the State Opposition, were carried expressing ajpprecia- . ; tion of the Imperial Government's.policy with regard to the war in South Africa, ■ : ; and confidence, in the humanity and valour of the people and soldiers of tie Empire, v The building was packed, and the audienoa included many members of .the Common- .. wealth Parliament and prominent citizens. ■ The speeches were strongly patriotic v aij^f '[ denunciatory of the danders on tie Army, and the proceedings were marked with roach, enthusiasm. ■ -.. ,•;. ■
