THE ARBITRATION COURT. [Pea Press Association.] - WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. The Arbitration Court's award in the tinplate workers' case fixes the hours of labour at 48 a week, and the minimum wages at Is l^d an hour. All boys are to be indentured for five years, and preference ' is to be given to Unionists. In the furniture trade case, the hours in Wellington are to be 46 per week, and the minimum wage of cabinetmakers, upholsterers, chair and frame-makers and machinists £3 per week, and of polishers and turners £2 15s per week. 'Apprentices are to serve five years, and are to be indentured. Preference to be given to Unionists. In the industrial district oiltside Wellington city/ the hours axe 48 per week, with a minimum wage of Is 3d an hour, and Is 2d an ,hour to the classes given above. Painters and decorators' hours are from Sept. 1 to April 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on, five days a week, and from 8 a.m. to noon on, Satur-* day, and! from May 1 to August 31, from 8 &.m., to 4.30 p.m. on five days. All boys are to be indentured for five years, and preference is to be given to unionists. The rate^ of .• wages in the city and suburbs of Wellington are to be' not less than Is Sd^r hour, with an extra shilling a day and travelling expenses for work done beyond a distance of ten miles from the employers' shop. There are special rates for places beyond 15 miles from Wellington. The minimum wage is Is 2d an hour, with a special for apprentices. The preference clause does not apply to the Wairarapa district and to the Union, Steamship. Company and local bodies are not to 'be' affected: 'by the award. NELSON, Feb. 17. -A sitting of the Arbitration Court was held to-day before Mr Justice Cooper. Messrs Brown and Slater's- award pi the Conciliation Board with reference" to the dispute between, the Parapara Company and . the Collingwood Miners' Union was confirmed. .'
