THE BROUGH SEASON.
"LADY HUNTWORTH'S EXPERIMENT." There was another large and appreciative' audience at the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening, when the Brough Comedy Companyrepeated the comedy, A Lady Huntworth's Experiment." The piece went even better than on the opening night, and the company was honoured! with calls a>t tho close of each act. Mr and Mrs Brough, in their respective parts, did sterling work, and were responsible for a great deal of merriment, and they were well backed up by the rest of the company. " THE SECOND IN COMMAND." This evening Captain Marshall's comedy, " The Second in Command," will be staged for the first time in Christchurch. Writing of the play the Melbourne "Daily Tele-, graph" has the following: — "In the bright Brough record, as a thoroughly wholesome, humanly interesting, symmetri-cally-constructed and smartly written comedy, the "Second in. Command!" will find a high place. It is not a pretentious play. Its theme viea with the hDls in' antiquity — a. sweet and simple love story. But it is in the telling that Captain Marshall has achieved so much. He has given the old, old story which runs through the ages a charm and brightness that will certainly ensure its popularity. All the men and women who prominently appear are pure-minded, noble^ and honourable; and only in the lavishness of their self-sacrifices do they approach the realms of romance."
