Mitchelson, that as the eminently patriotic and statesmanlike services «en,dered on behalf of • New Zealand to the Empire in the late season of anxiety and stressf, by the Premier, call for due and cordial recognition by the people of New Zealand," the people of Auckland have resolved to tender the Premier a fitting and adequate recognition of such services prior to his departure for England. Further, it -was resolved that the presentation should take the sha.pe of a purse of sovereigns. An influential committee was appointed to giv& effect to the resolution.
