The Bank of England returns show that the reserve is £25,934,000; the amount, of gold, coin, and 'bullion £34,539,000; the proportion of reserve to liabilities 48.24 per ceiit; notes in circulation £28,754,000; public deposits £14,078,000; other deposits £39,432,000; Government securities £17,274,000; other securities £28,665,000. Three months' bills are discounted at 2$ per cent. New South Wales and Victorian; three and a half per cent inscribed! stocks areeach quoted at 104 ; New Soutto, Wales three percent 97; South; Australian- three per cent 93£. Consols and other stocks are unchanged. Wheat. —The English and American markets are firm, but inactive, and the Continental dull. The French markets are weaker. Cargoes are dull and unchanged, buyers -holding off. Butter is very firm; colonial 110s per cwt, occasional lots selling at ll2s per cwt. The demand for secondary sorts continues. Danish is firm at from 116s to 118s per cwt. . Rabbits are firm at from 9d to 9£d. Hafes are dull; A few ihave been sold at from Is 4dtols6d. Sugar is firm; German 6s 9d, first marks granulated unchanged. > Copper is dull ; on spot £54 \12s 6d per ton, three months' £54 2s 6d per ton. Pig iron> 51s lid per ton. Lead, £11 13s 9d per ton. Spelter, £17 lls 3d per ton. At Bradford wool is quiet ; common sixties , 19id, superfine 20id.
