United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph— Copyright. (Received Feb. 7, 9.44 a.m.) . LONDON, Feb. 6. The bank rate of discount is 3 per cent. The total quantity of wool catalogued to date is 183,000 Of this quantity, 92,000 bales wer^e sold to Home buyers, 77,000 bales went to the Continent, and 1000 bales to America. Fourteen thousand five hundred balqs were held over.
Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, under date- Feb. 5 : —
The wool sales closed firm and active, ■with brisk" competition. As compared ■with closing rates of last series, prices of merino and fine cross-bred are on the average 5 per cent higher, medium and' coarse- cross-bred are 10 per cent higher, and slipe wools at par to 5 per cent higher. Out of the nett quantity available for sale some 92,000 bales have been sold for Home consumption, 77,000 bales for the Continent, 8000 bales for America, leaving 15,000 baks to be carried forward to the next series.
