POLITICAL NOTES.

* [Froh Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 28. MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS' BILL. A deputation of Wellington chemists interviewed Sir Joseph Ward with inference to the Medical Practitioners' Bill, pointing out that some of its clauses would interfere with the rights' of chemists in regard to prescriptions. The Minister replied that the Bill exempted chemists in the direction referred; to, but it was not his intention { to proceed wirli the measure this session. It had (been introduced at the request- of the Medical Association. It would be circulated during the recess, mi that any class affected by it would have an opportunity of studying the Bill. RAILWAY EMPLOYEES' CLASSIFIv CATION. Considerable opposition is shown by railway employees to the proposed amended Classification Bill, and the prospects of its passage is problematical. The measure, it is contended, benefits only the Traffic Department, THE LTBEL BILL. Important amendments have been made by the Statutes Revision Committee in the Criminal Coie Amendment Bill. Thepenally for defamatory libel, which provided only for imprisonment, has been made two years' imprisonment and' a fine not exceeding £SCO, thus following Queensland law on the subject. THE END OF THE SESSION. Although it Jias been confidently asserted that the session will end/ on Saturday next, the probabilities are that the curtain will not 'be rung down till Thursday week, and that the Premier will leave for Christchurcli the same day in order to be present on People's Day of the Caniei.'bmy Show. To-night the Hou.se' is to discuss the Public Works Statement, and to-morrow night it- will be employed considering the Estimates. Bills still on the Order Paper include ruch important measures as the State Coal Mines Bill, (he Licensing Bill, the Payment of Members Bill, the Railway Classification Bill, the Maori Lands Administration Hill, and others of a debatable character. The Bill relating to the Victoria College site has yet to make it* appearance. In addition to all these, there are the Supplementary Estimates. ' This week promise;* to be an exceptionally busyone within the walls of Parliamentary House.
