Even our Board School children have been set to wiite essays on the Cup and ono youngster has produced tliis terse summary" of th? fituation : "The Race for the American Cup.- -A .gentleman could sail his yacht very fa-st. ;ind he said he would give a solid gold cup if anyone oould row their boat faster than his, so there was a ra*.e between the Americans and the English the Americans- had always won bin Sir Thomas Lipton who has a shop"* in Angel Lane and anothpr at Forest Gate is> going to try and win the. cup with his yacht, itis called the Shamrock and is painted green. If Sir Thtfnais Lipton Avins I shall ask mother to buy her grocery of him all except jam." Out of the mouths, etc.. and perhaps the reason for this exception in the matter of jam is one that Sir Thomas might look into.
