Mllraith, opened - the proceedings, and. stated * the position of the district and the-busiiKss dene during the recces. The Wellington District wrote stating that they were endeavouring to make a uniform charge of. 2s 6d throughout their Courts for clearance members up to forty years, of. age; also, with an object of having the ciearance fee made uniform throughout the colony ; and that the matter of a conference of Friendly Societies as a Council in Wellington had' been shelved for the present. It was resolved that the District Executive should do its best to initiate a scheme to keep membet- financial who were in arrears with contributions. The Permanent District Secretary moved, pursuant to notice, that with a view of retnining aged Foresters always -as members of the Order, District Imv 33 should be altered by adding after the vrords list cf contributioris " : Any member above the age of' sixty years who has been a membsr of the Order for twenty-five years may, if he so request-, cease from paying further contributions without being liable to suspension, and shall be entitled to all benefits, as if he had paid up all contributions, but in case/of sickness his arrears of contributions shall be first paid out of, the sick pay due to him, but should he or his wits die, then any arrears due by him to -the Court shall be paid cut oi th& fune .aj y ■money, and tb& balance [ii any) paid ov&r. The Amotion was carried. y Some, explanations were given upon the table of surrender values, and it was decided., tc alter the Vrord "may" to "shall," «o as to" make it compulsory for clearances tc b^ made under this table if Courts approve of this" by next district meeting. Bro Blacikwell spoke on the necessity of action being taken to open out new branches, and moved that it should bs a recommendation to bring forward a scheme whereby it might be legal to employ an. agent to induce persons to open Courts in their particular locality. This was carried. The halfyeariv statement of receipt and expenditure shewed the -funeral fund receipts £327 7s, expenditure £125; management fund xeceipts £76 14s Id, expenditure £100 ls 94< including £25 7s 7d sent to the High Court - for good, leaving a net expenditure of £74 ' 14s 2d'; total worth of funeral funds, £6873 15s 2d ; management fund, £88 6s 3d ; money out on mortgage, £6452; jn Post Office. £16 14s 6d ; Baiik pf Australasia, £493 6s lld. The following nominations for district officers were made: — Court Star of Canterbury, J.. Y. Beattie, D.S.C.R. ; W. H. Turvey, D.8. ; J. Hudson, Appeal Committee ;. Court Courtenay.. Alex. Hay, Appeal Committee ; Court, Thistle of the Forest, H. Ward, D.B. ; Court Woodford, D. Henry. D.B. ; Court Ashburton, James Baker. D.C.R. ; Heifford. Appeal Committee ; Court Dunsandel, F. Lili, D.B. Bro S. B. Wathew was appointed auditor. ' A motion was carried to the -effect that the next meeting should be held at Christchurch. The Court was then closed, and the efficers and delegates were invited to join in the "social" of the twenty-first anniversary of ' the Court, at which tho D.C.R..
