PRESENTATIONS.
Oiti Wednesday evening Captain. W. Sparrow, who recently resigned tba captaincy of the Ashburton Guards, was presented by the members of Ms old company with a group of photos of the officers, non-ccni-missioned officers and men cf the corps, enclosed in a handsome oak frame. Cap- j tain Nicoll, successor to Ga-ptuiii Sp;irrow, j mtide th© presentaticn, ar.d in doing so | referred to the fact that Captain Sparrow I bad risen from the ranks to tho command ] of the corps. Captain Sparrow, in reply, thanked the members of the Uuaids for their hands>cni2 present, which would* always be highly valued by him, and co-fi-cluded by referring to tihe good qualities of their . newly appointed captain, under whom, h-c had no d-cubt, they would do well. .- '
