' Last -evening,, before ithe qpraaiencement of the opera, there was a pleading ceremony, when Mr Zillman, on behalf of rhe members, presented M. Slapoffski, the conductor, with am enlarged photograph of the orchestra, vhcih has toured the colony with Mr Musgrove's company. The son of a North Country farmer was busy ploughing in one of the. latter's fields. The old father, seeing a lot of crows following the plough picking up the worms, went into the house and brought out his gun and fired amongst them. Some of the shots 'hit his son in the leg, causing him to fall down. When the father came up, the son looked up to horn and shouted : '' Feyther, did ye no see me?" "Ay," said the father, " I saw ye weel enough, but I didn't like to- miss the chance at the craws."
