The operations of the Tire Brigade at fires are considerably hampered by the actions of bicyclists. The wheelmen, who are generally early on the scene, congregate in the street close to tho burning building, and get in the way of the men running out the hose. It is stiggested that in future the Brigade should carry a couple of wire ropes, which should be stretched across the street, some distance on either side of the fire. Germany takes nearly 38 millions a year of British exports — more than any other European nation. France takes _2i millions.
