[Fhomi Our Cokbbsi'Ondent.] ASHBURTON, June 25. A tremendous crowd assembled to witness the Royal progress through Ashbur- . tcp... . On the arrival of the train the , yj^ayoT} "an<i : other prominent citizens were 1 preserited^to <the- Duke, after which his Royal Highness proceeded to a speciallyerected platform, grouped around which one thousand children sang th« National Anthem. His Royal Highness complimented Mr Horaoe* Gates, the conductor, on the efficiency of the singing, and tJhe Duchess a-Iso held a short conversation with him. On the departure of the, E/oya.l train there was vociferous cheering. The Duka, stood on the platform as the train y neared the- Ashburton Bridge, and bowed" his acknowledgments to the many thousands of people ranged along the line.
