SWISS SEPTUAGENARIAN.

« A HARDY SETTLER. The hardiness of the Swiss as settlers is clearly exemplified (writes a reporter.) in the -case of Mr John Allemann, of Dudley Road, Inglewood. Though seventy years of age, he was hard at work with his family, cutting and stacking chaff when

I called. Knowing that his life must have been full of incident, I questioned the old gentlemaji, with the following result: — "I am a native of Crermar. S witzer land," said he, " and I ca me to New Zealand in 1875 after spending some years on different Australian goklfields.

Some of the places I prospected had jus 1 , been opened, and we could scarcely obtain the bare necessities of life. The result oi the exposure to cold and wet, when mining, was not fully apparent till ten years ao-o. Then acute rheumatic pains came in my neck, arms, back and legs. My muscles were contracted, and I could scarcely move. I lost my appetite, lor. weight, and became' enfeebled. Skilfu: doctors treated me, and sent me to flu Rotorua Hot Springs, but I obtained only temporary relief. Having hea-d of t lie beneficial effects of Dr Williams' pink pilkfor pale people in cases of rheumatism, 1 was easily persuaded by an Ihglewooc< storekeeper to try them. A fen- Jars after beginning to take them, the pains lessened, and a little later the rheumatism left my neck. I continued taking Dr Williams' pink pills until completely cured. Now I have the full use of my limbs, and suffer no pain whatever. Ever since ther I have been hard at work, and exposure to cold and wet has no effect on me." In Mr Allemann's case, hardship arc J exposure had thinned .snd impoverished j the blood. Tiwi the seeds of rheumatism J

were sown, and cold and wet soon -started the pains. By enriching the blood, Dr Williams' pink pills cure, not only rheumatism, but nnremia, debility, scrofula, erysipelas, indigestion, consumption, etc. By toning up the nerves, they cure Sd Vitus' dance, nervous exhaustion, neuralgia, locomotor at-axia., etc. Sold by chemists and storekeeper's, and by the Dr Williams' Medicine Co., Wellington, three shillings per box, six boxes sixteen and six, post free. Write for our list of cured patients in New Zealand. 1988
