PICTURES OF SPECIAL INTEREST.
« Amongst the subjects of special interest that are ably dealt with in the pictorial supplement presented with the " Canterhuvy Times," the luneral ot the late Lieutenant-CJolonel Francis occupies a prominent place. The specially-taken photographs show two sections of the imposing military procession, "At the Grave" and " Firing ihe Funeral Salute." These are particularly good examples of instantaneous photography, and must necessarily be keenly- appreciated by all who knew — and by all who knew of— the erstwhile enthusiast in military matters. Amongst the floral tributes to the memory of Britain's " Great White Queen " was a magnificent wreath which bore the ltgend. "New Zealand to her Queen" (words that said so much in so little) ; and this is most fittingly shown in a large-sized engraving that will be treasured in many a home of, this Brighter Britain. Other 'wreaths are depicted, all of them being worth careful study from the artistic standpoint. "Long Live the Kins" stands our conspicuously, for one sees the King, with Queen Alexandra, leaving Buckingham Palace in his State coach on Feb. 15, and "King Edward VII." reading his speech to the peers. The consecrating ot the colours of tkt". North Canterbury Infantry Battalion i at Christchurch on March 31 makes a capital page ; and gold-dredging in Otago forms "another. In fact, the supplement fairly teems with good things, and th» issue « - ««w>fii*liv commendable one.
