CLEAR COMPLEXIONS.

A thorough steaming of the face at night is wonderfully effective in producing a clear complexion: This is dome by holding the face over a basin of hot water. Then wash it well with hot water and soapsuds, rins& tfhem off with piaim hot water, and) give the face a bath of cold water. The soap cleanses the face, the hot water washes the soapsuds off it, and the cold water tightens and makes. the skin firm, and also prevents , it from being too sensitive. To^ Whiten ' the Arms.— Many women suffer from a chronic eruption on the fleshy panb of the arms, and the skin is rough and red at the same time. Persistent treatment will effect a cure after some motntJhs, and the cure is usually permanent. Friction will naturally at fi^st appear to irritate the small pimples, but after friction use sulphur and wool fat made as an ointment. . Either a loofah or a leather flesh brush may be used, and warm water and soap. A tepid bath js more permanently retfresh- . ing than a cold one. The latter seems to refresh more at the moment, but cold waiter promotes anore rapid circulation!, thus causing heat, whereas tepid water wiil leave the skin cool and moist. A small quantity of ammonia, or tibe addition of a little soda in the bath, ds useful in case of undue perspiration. ,
