A ROUGH VOYAGE.
EXPERIENCES OF THE YACHT WAITANGI.
The Wellington yacht Waitaaigi, which left for Wellington, on Friday morning last, put back into Lytfcelton at. two o'clock this morning, after a very mragih six <fc.yjj\ voyage. The crew report tha^tihe yachtV crossed Cook Strait on ilon\Jay night in : a strong north-west gale. The weafiher was so thiok that it was impossible to pick up the iig-htihouse. The yacht reached. Palliser Bay, but there her foresail was carried away, and she had to ron back to ' Cape Campbell under her trysail. A very heavy sea was running, and the northerly gale blew the yacht down .past Kaikcnra. The crew tihen decided to, make for Lyttelton. They had run out of provisions; but had plenty of fresh water. The necessary repairs are to be effected in Lytteltoia. The Waitangi was in company with the Auckland yacht Raiinbow off Flaxbaume on Monday night. The latter, like the Waitangi, was under short canvas. No news' of the Rainbow's arrival at Wellington lias been received at Lyttelton.
