!A DIFFICULTY OVER PUDDINGS. ■*■« At the Magistrate's Court this morning, "before Mr Bishop, S.M,, Agn«s Lothian (Mi Stamper) sued Elizabeth Everest (Mr 'Maude), a lodging-house keeper, for £1 16s, .alleged balance of wages. The plaintiff stated she had been- engaged at 12s per week in August last. On Nov. 17 she gave a week's notice, but eventually left on Dec. !17. The claim was for the last three weeks' wages which she alleged the defendant i«---1 fused 'to pay. Jane Hyde, a hou3e-keepei employed by the defendant, gave evidence. Annie Hayes, another servant in the employ 'of Mrs Everest, stated she heard the plaintiff give notice because cf a. "row about a pudding." Elizabeth Everest, the defendant, stated she had engaged plaintiff to stay . until the beginning of the New Year, and 'had given an extra- 2s of wag«s under this agreement. The plaintiff was not " strong "on •^puddings, however, and left without giving any intimation of her intention on Dec. 16. She considered the three weeks wages was covered by th« extra 2s that had. been paid and the 12s due for the weeks notice, that should have been given. Mr Bishop gave judgment for the Cosfcv. '
