GROG IN A PROHIBITION DISTRICT.
A RAID AT BALCLUTHA. [Peb Press Association.] r ©UNEDIN, Jan. 9. The police made a- big raid on sly grogsellers atßalclutha this morning. Eleven plain clothes constables entered the district on bicycles. Five places were entered, and large quantities of grog were found in each. The names of the owners of the premises are : Vial (Railway Hotel), Bain (Farmers Arms), M'Donneir (Criterion Hotel), Allen (Crown Hotel), and Marshall (lemonade factory). It is rumoured that simultaneous raids were\made at Tapanui, Owaka, and Clinton. • ■
