(Received Dec- 6, 10.50 a.m.) PARIS, Dec. 5. In a debate in the Senate on the navy vote, General Merrier wildly attacked the British Army and Navy, amid protests. He moved that it should be an urgent instruction to the Government to prepare a scheme of rapid embarkation and disembarkation, and added that if France went to war with Britain she must invade. The President of the Senate declared that a revolution; would only follow the interpellation. M. de Laneasan, Minister of Marine, declared, that the Government would never for an instant entertain it. The announcement was received with cheers. ,• The authorities in tlie French Riviera are delighted that Queen Victoria will return to Cannes in the spuing, if nothing unforeseen occurs in the meanwhile.
