THIS DAY. £Per the " Stab's " Pigeon Express.] Entries of stock were .below the average in all classes, and the attendance was not large. Pat Cattle. — The 177 head which formed the beef supply were mostly ordinary cows and heifers, ccwg .predominating. The sale was very irregular, and bidding not being brisk, a further drop in prices took place, best beef ruling from 21s to 23s 6d< per 1001 b, and other sorts down to 18s. Ten prize bullocks and steers from the Palmerston show and quo heifer were offered. The aged bullocks, although, heavy, were not of extra good quality, but the steers were very prime. They were, the property of Messrs M'Hardy Bros. , Archdeacon Williams, Abraham and Williams, and; D. Fraser. The bullocks brought., from £13 5a to £13 10s, the steers from £10 to £11 ss, and the heifer £9. They were purchased by Messrs J. Knight, J. Forrester, H. B. (Lane and Sons and Sherwood. Local steers ' brought from £7 15s to £9 ss, heifers from £5 10s to £8 17s 6d, cows £4 15s to £8 15s. Fat SHEEr. — The yarding is a small one, madfc up mostly of shorn ewes and wethers. The market opened well for all sorts. Fat Lambs. — The supply was only about half that of the previous week, and included some well-finished lines. Buyers tfoi export were operating freely^ andi this caused a further vxise of fully Is per head, the prices ranging from 13s co 16s Id, and a good many went for export at from 14s to 16s. Stoke Sheep. — The yarding was the largest for some time, and all classes were in demand. A line of 500 dry ewes Avere withdrawn. Wethers in the wool brought 17s Id to 17s sd, shorn do 14s Id to 14s lid, hoggets in the wool 14s to 16s 9d, woolly ewes with 'lambs (all counted) 11s 4d to 12s 7d for good young sorts and 7s to 9a 3d l for aged, do shorn 10s 7d and 109 Bd. Pigs. — A moderate yarding caused l a .keen demand, especially for baconeis, which showed a - substantial advance, ruling at 30s to 455, equal to 3£d per lb.
