Sharp to time Cutts dispatched Glenaladale and Scottish Minstrel for a mile and ft quarter gallop 6ii .the plough, the laei mile arid ■& furlong of Which Was covered in 2mih 4^sec, the pair finishing together. Sara galloped a mile alene itx lniiri 61 8-ssec on the grass, the inside of which was opened Cc-day. Somerled and Djin-Djin, 'separately,, traversed a strong circuit of the plough. Mifes Delaval had Cavaliero !6r a- companion in a fast mile and a quarter oh the grass) Which was Tun.ih Smiri 13 l-Bseo, and the last xrfiie in lmin 60 l-ssec. Misa Delayal, who was fully extended, finished several lengths in front of her companion, who, however, was not persevered with. Rougemo'nt and Garmoran brushed over six furlongs in lmin 25gec, and the Jast half-milo in 64sec, but they could have improved on that considerably. Hermosa Was better than Spider over a similar distance,- run in lmin 20sec from a standing start. Lady Killer galloped five furlongs lip the back, and Jupiter, who i§ looking extremely "well; put in good half-pace Work. Clandeboy, Whirlwind and Huku were associated in a seven furlong spin, which occupied ltnin 34sec, finishing in the. order named, but Huku was going strongly throughout. Malalua and Fulinen, witi light weights iip, galloped a mile and a half, the last round being run in 2min 32Sec, the four furlongs in 62seCj and tKe full.j6urhey iri.amitt 46isec, the former, who was ridden out, finishing about a length in front. The southern representative is improving. /Nihilist, with.a\feather-weight up, tan a sterling mile arid ajqU&rter, the last mile of which was cut out in irhln 44sec. This horse is Wonderfully well. Proposal galloped seven furlongs, Epsom Lad assisting her over the 'last half mile. The last six furlongs occupied lmin 22 8-ssec. Benzoin* from a cantering start, left six furlongs behind him in lmin lߧec. This was a good gallop. Benzoin is evidently improving, and should be Ve^rJ well On Nov. 3. St Denis dashed ,pver 6ix futjoigs iii lmin 18seo frdin a flyini start. H6 Was tiot riddeh out. Blazer j With a light Weight in the saddle, was extended over a. similaf distance up the back, the last half mile taking 523ec. Military easily defeated Cavalry over a mile and a quarter, run in 2inin ißsec, and the lasi mile in imin 5i 2-ssec. S'trathhairft, after trotting a circuit, broke away at the mile &hd a half post, and galloped oil alonb to the six fUrlongs post, where he Was joined by Belligerentj the paif racing home together. The New Zealand Cup candidate appeared to tire towards the finish. The times for the various stages of the gallop Were— Last once found 2min 29sec, mile and a quarter 2inih 17 l-ssec, mile lihirt 47* sec, last half-mile 56sec fl'nd full jbUrney 2miii 42secj Which constitutes a very fair performance. Goldspur finished up the last half milo of a'steady circuit of the plough in 60sec, and afterwards brushed home down the straight. Paltidin galloped five furlongs j in lmin 4sec, and the last half mile. in SOacc. The lion J. D. Ormond's team— Jabber, Renown, Ideal, Paphos and Roller— all looking the picture of health, were out; and did steady exercise, as did Materpa; who is also in capital fettle. ' After breakfast the -course proper Was thrown open for the two-year-olds, several of (whom had the colours up. The first batch to run down the straight comprised the following: — Saracen— Psyche filly, Margot, Calibre, Wepener, White May, Gipsy Maid and Battler. From a fairly even start the three first-iiamed finished , in the order mentioned; running the four furlongs in 51sec. Windwhistle, Guldenmere, Shrapnel Shell and Wee Drappie ran the distance ' a fifth of ■ a second faster, finishing in the order written. Yseult defeated Foray and Roinanyj the journey being completed in 53sec. The Yaldhurst youngsters,! Menschikoff, Field Battery, Cruciform, Royal Artillery and Diplomat also worked, but they Were not fully extended. The Welcome Stakes trio finished in front.
