Mrs Collins was the daughter' of the late Mr Isaac Lovelock, one of Wellington's earliest settlers. Born in Kent, England^ on Oct. 9* 1830 (says the Wellington "Post"), she, ■with her parents, landed ia 1840 in Wellington, in the Boltbn, the first ship to moor at the Te Aro landing place. With her •husband, the late Mr E. W. Collins, she lived for inahy years at the well-known Tainumu Estate, near WaipaWa. Removing thence in 1878 they cast in their lot in the Manawatu. Sir George Whitmore has suffered a severe stroke of paralysis, and his condition is such as to cause serious apprehension to his frtends.
