AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY.
The "Otago Daily Times" says: — At a recent conference of representatives of the principal manufacturers and importers of agricultural implements and machinery in Obago, Southland and Canterbury, it was decided to advance tlie price of manufactured and imported articles by from 10 per cent to 15 per cent on former rates. The reason alleged ia that the price of the raw material has advanced during the past twelve months from 30 to 40 per cent. It may be added that advice was received by yesterdayls San Francisco mail that some lines, such as pig iron, are likely to still further harden. Tbe present advance applies to dredging machinery also. We understand that at the conference referred to it waa resolved to restrict/the number of shows at whdoh im-plerneri/ts and machinery will be exhibited. The 'first to be affected will be the forthcoming Wimter Show of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society. There is a probability, however, that manufacturers and importers who are outside the oombraatkro may exhibit to a very much greater extent than they have hitherto done, 'and so take the place of those who are economising.
